I love to read. I’ve always loved to read-since I was a little kid. So now when I’m bored a good book is my friend. I enjoy many different types of books and that’s a good thing, but my husband says I become my characters, which is great if I’m reading a romance novel ?, but not great for him if I’m reading a detective story (Where were you? What were you doing?)
I’ve belonged to many book clubs with friends, although now my book club has become a non-book book club, but I still challenge myself to find new books to read. Often I’ll read as many books as I can find by the same author, read a series, especially when I enjoy the characters in a book, or pick a subject and read as many books as I can about that subject.
Too often I can’t remember the titles or authors of the books I’ve read but some stand out. Some of my favorite books include:
- One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd (Jim Fergus)
- The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini)
- Against Medical Advice: A True Story (Hal Friedman & James Patterson)
- My Sister’s Keeper (Jodi Picoult)
- Sarah’s Key (Tatiana de Rosnay)
- Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas (James Patterson)
- Defending Jacob (William Landay)
- Final Girls (Riley Sager)
- Orphan Train (Christina Baker Kline)
- The Life She Was Given (Ellen Marie Wiseman)
- The Things We Cannot Say (Kelly Rimmer)
- Where The Crawdads Sing (Delia Owens)
- Love Anthony (Lisa Genova)
- Mrs. Everything (Jennifer Weiner)
One thing I love when I’m reading is to be cozy. Creating a reading space is a great way to make a boring day or hour into some special ‘me’ time.
Find some soft blankets and colorful pillows. Look for textures, colors, and patterns that make you smile. Find a place that has natural light or a great lamp. I like to light a sweet smelling candle in my reading space. And of course some yummy snacks. I love blueberries and almonds, an apple with almond butter, or a smoothie. A glass of wine can’t hurt either!
Hope you’re cozy and a little less bored reading a good book!
