My daughter is always taking me on fun adventures and this time she chose a day trip to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. Yes, it’s a 3 1/2 hour drive from NYC and we were just going for the day, but I was game.
It was a pretty easy drive (especially for me as I was the passenger!). When we arrived the first thing we did was take a walk at Gordons Pond Trail. It was hot, but worth the sweat because it was just beautiful.
Next we went into town, passing some absolutely gorgeous houses.
We walked around a bit stopping into a great bookstore, Browseabout Books, and some boutiques, ending up at Double Dippers, an incredible ice cream store. Here I had the best ice cream flavor I’ve ever eaten-banana peanut butter moosetracks. I now dream of this flavor. 😂
After ice cream we headed to Rehoboth Beach. This beach has a boardwalk with restaurants and shops. The beach itself was beautiful, but crowded. We walked for a bit and then decided to head back to the North Shore-Gordons Pond Trail in Cape Henlopen State Park and the North Shore Beach. On the way there we drove around a street where the houses were on the beach (backyard view) and a lake out their front door. The homes were magnificent and I can only imagine what the views are like from inside each house!!
So, we headed back to the North Shore and walked the beach, enjoyed the views, and watched some crabs scurry across the sand. This beach was much less crowded, equally as beautiful with gorgeous houses.
We knew we had a long drive ahead of us so we decided to head out. We spend a bit more than three hours in this very cute town. On our way out we drove through some North Shore streets just looking at the homes.
I would love to go back and spend more time, perhaps a long weekend, in Rehoboth Beach. In town it seemed like there were some good restaurants and definitely more shops to visit. And spending time on the beaches wouldn’t be too bad either!!
Can’t wait to share our next adventure with you!

We used to go to Bethesda every year and now we diversify a bit when it comes to a beach vacation. But those years remind me of the best years with my kids 🙂

Thanks Rosemary. So much fun!! xo, Michele
I grew up in a beach town so any trip to the beach ANYWHERE is always a treat for me. Both of these beaches look wonderful!
Shelley, how lucky you are to have grown up in a beach town! Sounds like a dream!! xo, Michele
Looks like a fun-filled day with your daughter. Rehoboth Beach is on my bucket list. That ice cream looks divine!
Hi Debbie,
The ice cream was incredible!! A great reason to go to Rehoboth Beach and cross it off your bucket list!!
xo,
Michele
I think my parents were there. It looks so nice! I love that you enjoy exploring places too! Love your cool, white dress. The ice cream looks and sounds scrumptious!

Hi Jess!
That’s so cool that your parents were there. It’s beautiful! I do love exploring, in fact, when my husband and I travel we will just walk cities and towns (I’m not a big museum person). I love to see how and where people live, and of course, eat! The ice cream was incredible!! I’m drooling thinking about it! The dress is so comfy and roomy (I can eat all the ice cream I want and don’t have to worry about it feeling tight lol). Thanks for reading!
