I love buying presents for people. It’s such a great feeling when I find just the right gift. That being said, I also LOVE receiving presents. For Mother’s Day this year my four kids put together an incredible gift basket, actually they called it a blogger’s basket! Knowing I was starting this blog they put in items they knew I’d love and would make for great photos-how clever is that! I clearly have some smart children!!
A gift basket can be so much fun to make. Choosing what to include in your basket can be made easier by thinking of something the recipient is interested in.
For someone who loves to cook: You can include a cookbook, cooking utensils, oven mitts, and some spices. Another option is to choose a recipe you know the recipient loves or a favorite recipe of yours and include the ingredients. (Don’t forget to include the recipe!)
For a writer: A journal, pen, and a book on writing or a favorite novel to be used as inspiration will make a cute basket. You can also add a slogan t-shirt or some teas with a cute inspirational mug to help motivate your writer.
For someone who loves to work out: There are so many goodies you can give to your fitness lover. Your basket might include a water bottle, work out attire, yoga mat, a fitness magazine, icy hot (lol but they’ll thank you!), and a gift card for an exercise class, such as ClassPass, Orange Theory, or Pure Barre.
For an artist: Think about their medium and choose art supplies accordingly. You might also include a book about their favorite artist or a poster. A coffee table book can be inspiring as well.
For someone who loves to read: I actually sent my mom some of my favorite books for her birthday one year and thought it was such a special gift to share what I loved with her. Aside from books, you can add some tea or a bottle of wine, some snacks, and a cozy blanket. OK, I’m ready to curl up with my book now! (Yes, of all the baskets I’m the reader!)
For a gardener: Gardening gloves, flower or vegetable seeds, gardening tools, garden stakes to label their garden, and a cute watering can will make any gardener ready to start digging and planting.
For someone who loves to be pampered: (and honestly, who doesn’t love to be pampered??) A face mask, bubble bath, body lotion, bath or shower gel, scented soap, and a candle will help your recipient have a relaxing experience. You can add a cd of relaxing music and maybe even a book or magazine for them to read while soaking in the bath. Mmmmm, I’m feeling relaxed just thinking about it.
For the movie lover: A dvd or a gift card to a movie theater, some snacks (don’t forget the popcorn!), perhaps a movie poster or a book about their favorite actor or movie, and a blanket so they can get cozy as they watch their movie.
For someone who loves to hang out on the couch and watch TV: Snacks, socks to keep their feet warm, comfy pjs, a cozy blanket, a candle, and a note saying they can control the remote will make any couch potato (me), I mean TV lover really, really happy.
Obviously I just touched on some types of gift baskets. Let your imagination go wild and have fun choosing different items to go in your basket. To finish up I like to wrap the basket in clear plastic and tie it with a big bow or ribbon. It’s so much fun to watch as the recipient goes through each item-not boring at all!
Another option is to purchase pre-made baskets. This is a great alternative if you don’t have time or just want to shop from the comfort of your couch.
