Traveling to Australia has been my number one on my bucket list since I was in 4th grade and had a penpal from there! I was supposed to go last year, but well, travel was put on hold so I’m still dreaming. Maybe that’s why I love finding unique businesses from Australia to share with you all! In August I shared YellowBird, an incredible bag company, and now I’ve got another treasure from Australia: Miss Nelly Boutique.
Miss Nelly Boutique offers amazing clothes and accessories (including YellowBird clutches!). They strive to help you feel confident as you walk out in style! I love the versatility of their clothes. It’s so important to have pieces in your closet that can be worn together and separately, and throughout different seasons. The Imogene skirt and top from Miss Nelly allows you to do just that.
When did you open your boutique?
Miss Nelly Boutique launched the end of March this year 2021
I know you sell online and on Instagram, do you have a storefront as well?
Yes, Miss Nelly has a storefront as well.
What made you decide to open a boutique?
It has been a lifetime dream to own and run a boutique.
Do you have a background in fashion?
Graphic designer by trade and retail most of my life.
What do you look for when ordering clothes and accessories for your shop?
I look for uniqueness, style, colour, texture, trend, affordability, exclusiveness, comfort.
Do you stay with the same designers or try different ones?
I have acquired multiple designers and always look to add a beneficial fit.
What is a day like for you?
Morning before at work:
Answer emails, action any customer enquiries, take my boy to school, recap what I wish to achieve.
At work:
I look forward to greeting my lovely customers, help style, fit, look and buy new product, steam garments, price, prepare product for website, clean boutique, change front window and mannequins, restock items sold for the day. Keep tabs on my sales: day to day, week to week…
What is your favorite part of owning a fashion boutique?
Honestly, I love it all. From visiting and seeing product in showrooms, to sampling stock, meeting new people, greeting, and aiming high to improve by listening to my customers wants and needs. Always room to improve!!!!
What is the hardest part?
The hardest part is my fear of customers not liking my clothes. (DOABH: No chance of that-they’re too good!)
I think if I had a boutique I’d want to keep everything I sell. How do you keep from doing so?
Lol yes, I love clothes, a shoe-aholic, I would need a bigger house to store all the new product. It’s challenging and upsetting, so I’m selective and realistic to being minimalist.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
I have big plans for Miss Nelly. I’m currently in design and concepts for the launch of my own label pieces. From dresses, singlet, top, and my favourite sweaters hopefully ready for next year. I’m so excited for this massive project and new journey. It would be such an honour and I’d be so proud if I’m successful and see ladies wearing an exclusive Miss Nelly, designed and owned piece of uniqueness!!! (DOABH: I can’t wait to share Miss Nelly exclusive designs!!)
I can’t wait to see what Nelly designs; I’m sure they’re going to be incredible. Until those are available, you can shop Miss Nelly boutique online or if you’re lucky enough to be in Australia, in person at her boutique! (And if you’re able to do so you know I’m jealous!! Because you get to shop Miss Nelly Boutique in person and because you’re in Australia!! 😂)
Happy Shopping!
