My trip started in LA with my daughter planning our mother/daughter getaway. I knew everything would be perfect as she’s lived in LA for the past four years so she knows all the good stuff!
Beverly Hills: We spend our first night at The Beverly Hills Hotel. Absolutely amazing! I arrived mid afternoon on Monday so our only meal the first day was dinner. We ordered room service and sat outside on our patio. The food was delicious, the atmosphere beautiful, and the company perfect! It was the best start to our trip.
Tuesday morning I had a haircut scheduled at Nine Zero One. I had my hair cut there a number of years back and Lindsey did a great job, so when I knew I was going to be visiting LA again I scheduled another appointment. I love the haircut and how she styled it, but then Caitlin and I went to the beach and my hair was a frizz ball lol. Still the cut is great and I’m glad I cut it. I also found out that Lindsey occasionally goes to NY so I’ll be able to meet up with her and get a hair cut when I move. Hopefully it won’t be a few years apart as this one was!
Malibu: The next three nights we spent in Malibu at The Malibu Beach Inn. Malibu is my daughter’s favorite spots in LA-she’s got excellent taste! I love the beaches, restaurants, and the whole relaxed vibe there!
Our first day in Malibu we went to Poppy and Someday for a soundbath and Reiki session. The session was so beautiful and incredibly relaxing. I didn’t know what to expect, but lying there listening to the sounds and feeling all the positive energy left me feeling so hopeful, strong, energized, and wanting more! After our session we were able to spend time the garden spa oasis. Here we enjoyed an outdoor soaking tub with flowers, salts, and scrubs, an infrared sauna with oils and gua sha tools, and an herbal steam room with mugwort. The gardens were just stunning and it was such a lovely way to spend the day de-stressing and relaxing with my daughter.
The next day we went to an outdoor yoga session at Salvaje Yoga, which is located on the beautiful Saddlerock Ranch. Oh my g-d, this was the most gorgeous spot for yoga. The yoga itself was amazing-it felt so good to stretch and breathe. The views were unbelievable! We were set up under a pavilion, which was nice given that it was sunny and hot, but a beautiful sunny and hot! As we walked up to the pavilion there were yak just hanging out! Then while we were doing the class a zebra started rolling around like a puppy right below us. It was hilarious! After our session, we were given a tour of the grounds and saw alpaca, mini horses, donkeys, horses, to name a few. The grounds are beautiful with four separate event venues (if you’re planning a wedding or other special party you need to see how beautiful Saddlerock Ranch is!) It was another fantastic day in paradise!
We spent a lot of time walking on the beaches. My daughter took me to some locations in Malibu that many people don’t seem to know about. It was beautiful to start and end our days with walks on the beach, watching surfers, spotting dolphins and sea lions, and just enjoying the ocean and each other’s company. Of course we also spent time fantasizing about which of the houses we’d want to live in—tbh, I wouldn’t turn down any house in Malibu on the beach. We even happened upon an open house and, well, it was stunning with views beyond our wildest imagination!
There is certainly no shortage of excellent food in Malibu! Our first night we ordered take out from Geoffrey’s. We’ve eaten at the restaurant before and it is delicious. It was just as good sitting on our balcony listening to the waves and spotting a sea lion who we named little Zeke! Another night we ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, Carbon Beach Club. Of course we ordered too much food, but it was all delicious, especially the sweet potato and truffle fries (yes, we indulged!) Our last night in Malibu we did take out again, this time from a Greek restaurant I love, Taverna Tony. We brought our food to the beach and had an incredible picnic! We had so much food left that we ended up bringing it with us when we met up with the rest of the family in Napa! (More on that trip coming soon.)
I can certainly see why Malibu is my daughter’s favorite place. It’s hard not to be happy and relaxed when you’re near the water, beautiful homes, excellent food, and sunny days with no humidity! I can’t wait to go back.

Rosemary, So many fun things to do in both places! Thanks for reading! xo, Michele
I especially love the dining over the ocean photo! I grew up in NorCal, but often visited extended family in SoCal. I don’t think my wonderful grandmother knew about the Malibu beach. lol.
When my sister and I finally realized that she lived only 40 minutes from Disneyland we were like, “grandma!!” (Who had always acted like it was two mule rides away.)
Awesome that your daughter is a local and really show you around! ♥
