I love shoes. I don’t know what else to say, I just do, and, umm, I have a lot. Some people love cars, some love food (well, I love food too), but I just really love shoes. I have other things I love (handbags and my family to name a couple), but shoes are high on my list. Lucky for me I live in a climate that allows me to experience all four seasons so of course I need different types of shoes for each season.
I shop a lot for shoes, especially online and most often for boots. To me, boots are really easy to buy online because if they’re a little big and they run out of my size I just add a thicker pair of socks. Open toe shoes and sandals are harder because if they’re too wide my foot slides up-don’t love seeing my toes hanging off the edge. ?
One of my pet peeves is toe cleavage. Weird, I know, but I don’t like when I look down and see that line between my toes showing. The funny thing is that I never notice this on anyone else; I guess I just don’t look. Hmmm, honestly I’m not sure about that because I always check out other people’s shoes (ya never know when you’re going to see a pair that you “need.”) But I don’t notice if they’re experiencing toe cleavage or not.
Shoes can also never be too high. Well, let me clarify that, I can easily wear a 4 inch heel, but any more and that is too high for me. But I do love the look when I see others rocking a super high heel. I’m also able to walk in most shoes (up to that 4” heel). I have a few pair of what I call ‘out to dinner shoes’. These are the ones I’ll wear when I know we’re just going to dinner and home, no walking around before or after. You’d think at my age I’d realize that comfort is more important than style (and I do realize this with clothing), but I’ll sacrifice for a great pair of shoes.
On that note, recently I have started wearing sneakers. I know, I’m late to the game. I love how my Stan Smiths and J Slides feel, so comfy, but when I look in the mirror I’m just not sure if I love them on me. I’m trying though. I’ve worn them with jeans, dresses, joggers-and I’m slowly getting used to the look, plus they really are comfortable.
One thing I don’t own is a classic pair of black pumps, I know incredible right?! Often, I do find that I miss these in my wardrobe but I just can’t find the right ones. But no fear, I’m still on the hunt! If you have any recommendations, please feel free to share! ☺️
As far as what designers or brands I wear, well, you can easily see me in shoes from Zara or Jeffrey Campbell as well as Chanel or Christian Louboutin. I don’t discriminate! There are so many brands/designers that I love. For example, Sophia Webster has really fun shoes and boots that definitely make a statement.
I’d been eyeing a pair of Alexander Wang booties, well, let me start at the beginning. I had a gift certificate to Saks and was in the city so I thought that would be a great place to look to see what I wanted to spend my gift card on. I looked at bags and found few but wasn’t 100% sold on any. I found a few pair of shoes including the Alexander Wang Tina Studded Cage Booties I just mentioned. Then I saw someone try on another pair of Alexander Wang boots, the Gabi Bootie, and I loved them on her. I tried them on and really liked them so that’s what I used my gift card towards. But I kept thinking about the studded cage booties. One day I happen to be on Nordstrom’s website (surprise!) and saw they were having a sale on shoes. I looked and the booties were on sale! My heart started racing and I rushed to order them. Luckily I remembered they ran big so I ordered two sizes down and they fit perfectly! I love them and I especially love that I got them at a reduced price. I am such a sale shopper! But that’s another story for another day! ?
A few online sites that I’ve found are great for shoes are Barneys Warehouse, MyTheresa, Yoox, Nordstrom, and Saks. Many times I’ll have a pair of shoes in sight, but hold out a bit to see if the price gets reduced. Lucky for me I don’t care if they’re last years’ style. If I like something I’ll wear it. I mean if you invest in something are you really going to let it sit in your closet or get rid of it because it’s from last year?
I don’t really have a store I love to go in to for shoes. Buying shoes is more of a when I’m out and see something that speaks to me kind of purchase. I’m always happy to try different types of shoes on because, after all, it’s a great way to beat the boredom!
