Things That Helped Me Beat The Boredom In August 2022

August 30, 2022 •

sconset-beach

This summer was very different for me as I didn’t have the incredible backyard that I had in Cleveland. Luckily we’re not too far from some beautiful beaches so I was able to spend some hot days relaxing there. Last month I shared my visit to Rockaway Beach. I did go back there again, and it was just as perfect! I also went to Today Beach, which is on Long Island and where I went growing up. It was fun to spend the day with my son, one of my daughters, sister and nieces. One of my other daughters and I drove to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware and then a week later flew to Nantucket for a few days. I’ll share more on both, but needless to say, both places were beautiful!

Kozan-one-shoulder-dress

Kozan: Everything I put on by Kozan is just outstanding. I love their architectural shapes, the ability to wear them casually and dress them up, and especially how unique they are. Being unique is really important to me and Kozan does it so well!

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig: My daughter recommended this book and what a read! I think everyone has made decisions in their lives that, while they seemed to be the right choice at the time, in hindsight we wish we’d chosen differently. Nora has many regrets in her life and as she contemplates her decisions she wakes up in a huge library with the librarian being her high school librarian, one of the positive influences in her life. Nora is told that each book in the library contains how her life would have been had she made a different decision. As Nora travels and experiences  these parallel lives she realizes so much about herself, about what could have been, and about what still can be. I enjoyed the story and also how much it made me think about my life, my regrets, my good decisions, and the possibility of parallel lives. I highly recommend this book.

Central-Park

Central Park: Spending time exploring Central Park is anything but boring! There’s always something fun to see, people to watch, and flowers to smell. Honestly I can sit or walk for hours in the park and I will share more about a day in the park soon!

statement-sleeves

Tesslo: I love clothes that are different, that make a statement, and clothes from Tesslo are both! Wearing these dresses I definitely feel like I’m making a statement. I love the styles and, given all the measurements taken, the fit is perfect. And the fit is just one of the things that makes clothes from Tesslo so perfect.

good-girls

Good Girls: Being a former suburban mom, the premise of this series on Netflix was intriguing to me. Three “typical” suburban moms are dealing with financial issues and so they decide to rob a grocery store to fix their problems. Little did they know this would just be the beginning of their problems. Funny at times, poignant at others, and utterly ridiculous at others, I enjoyed all 4 seasons.

love-shu-shi

Love Shu Shi: Clothes that can be worn in multiple seasons are a necessity to me, especially now that I have less closet space, and what I’ve found at Shu-Shi is perfect for transitional dressing. These pants (with pockets!) are incredible for the summer. I’ll wear them to the beach or running errands and change into a pair of heels to dress up for out to dinner. The little shrug is so perfect for going into air conditioned places or those evenings towards the beginning or end of the summer that are a little cooler. Come fall I’ll add a sweater and pair of booties and the palazzo pants are still perfect for day or night. I’ll wear the shrug over a long sleeve dress or top with jeans and I’ve got a great fall outfit.

Caviar-Russe

Caviar Russe: My husband and I celebrated our 38th anniversary this month! We both love caviar and so our gifts to each other was a very special evening out. We love to sit in the lounge and theirs was beautiful and comfortable. We started out with champagne and strawberries and three types of caviar. We then ordered some other bites including a lobster roll topped with caviar. Of course we finished up with dessert-macarons and chocolate creme. Everything was incredibly delicious and the service was fantastic. Our server really took the time to explain the different caviars to us and how certain items were prepared. It was a wonderful night!

wedding

Another bonus this month was attending a family wedding. My nephew got married and it was wonderful having all my kids together. I loved seeing them dancing together, with their cousins, and with my mom. It was a beautiful wedding and such a special treat for all!

August sounds like it was a good month for you!! I love the outfits and will check out your links. So you are based in NY now? If so, I’m about 40 minutes North of NY and would love to meet up over the next few weeks if we can…I’ve not been to that restaurant but my husband and I are due for a night out so may have to check it out!!
And the book sounds like a great referral for both my daughter (22) and I. We both love to read…Thanks for sharing your August!
