Things That Helped Me Beat The Boredom in December 2020

December 29, 2020 •

This was a very different holiday season for all of us! I’m sad my family wasn’t together, but as I’ve said time and time again, we are all healthy and will have many more holidays to celebrate together in the future. So not having all the kids home, here’s what kept me from being bored in December.

The-Undoing

The Undoing: I loved watching this and trying to figure out whodunnit, but my daughter made a good point when she said it was a combination of Big Little Lies and Defending Jacob, both of which I loved. Towards the fourth or fifth episode I was getting a bit cynical, thinking it was predictable, but the finale was a great twist! Great cast and fun to talk about with friends throughout the season-watch it if you haven’t already, it’s worth it!

The-Queens-Gambit-1

The Queen’s Gambit: I really enjoyed binge watching this show. At first my son and his girlfriend felt it was a ‘women can do anything’ kind of show, but then they realized it was so much more. I loved the main character, Beth, the storyline was intriguing, and I also enjoyed seeing the outfits she wore. The show was so well done I was actually bummed when it was over-I wanted more!

Truffle cheese & honey: Talk about wanting more! My daughter ordered this truffle cheese from Beehive Cheese and added a truffle honey from Regalis Foods she had previously purchased for us. She toasted slices of a baguette and we were in heaven. It was beyond delicious. We went through two hunks of the cheese and the entire bottle of honey, and tbh if there was more, we would have kept going. I know I will be ordering more of both of these very soon!

These two blankets are amazing! I know it’s after the holidays, but if you need a gift for anyone or just want to get cozy yourself, check out these blankets.

Cozy Blanket: This blanket by Barefoot Dreams is one of the softest blankets ever. It comes in different colors and patterns, and honestly, with staying home right now a blanket to cuddle up with in front of the tv or with a good book is perfect.

Sauna-Blanket

Sauna Blanket: Can’t get to a sauna, that’s ok this blanket by Higher Dose brings it right in to your home. I use it while lying on the couch, but my husband like to lie on the floor. You can adjust the temperature setting, I usually last for about 20 minutes at a temperature of 5, but my daughter goes up to a 9 for an hour! It feels really good with my rheumatoid arthritis and it helped my husband when his back was bothering him. My daughter just likes it. We used it as part of our mother-daughter spa night and gave each other head massages while the other was using the blanket. That was a fun night!!

Body Lotion: One of my favorite parts of a massage is the scents they use. My daughter used this lotion, EOS, evolution of smooth, for my hand massage during our spa night and the jasmine peach smells is delicious. The texture is also really nice and it’s helped my dry hands. With the amount of hand washing we’re all doing these days it’s so important to keep our skin hydrated and this lotion will absolutely help.

One Summer in Paris by Sarah Morgan:  After watching Emily in Paris last month and not being able to travel, I’ve had such a desire to be there. So I’ve been reading some novels that take place in Paris. Having traveled there on two occasions, it was fun to visualize the city as the author was describing it. I enjoyed the storyline of this book as well as the descriptions of the sites. Let me know if you’ve read any good books that take place in other countries-I’ll pretend I’m there!
