Here’s what kept me entertained this past month!
The Things We Cannot Say by Kelly Rimmer: Set in both modern times and during World War II, this is one of the best books I have ever read. Switching between the family stresses Alice is dealing with in 2019 and the stories and secrets from her grandmother’s past, this book is emotional and riveting at the same time. A story of love, sacrifice, and survival, The Things We Cannot Say will have you captivated from the start.
Vejas Sneakers: While at Chelsea Market in New York City we came across a sample sale. You know I’m not one to pass up a sale of any kind so we ventured inside. Sometimes a sample sale can be overwhelming, especially when I start to feel bad that my husband is waiting outside, so I tried to make this one a quicker shopping trip. As we’d been doing a lot of walking in the city I had been wearing sneakers with dresses and liked how it looked. And then I saw these sneakers. I’d seen then frequently on people on the streets of NY and really liked them, so I got a pair and so did my daughter! They come in so many colors and are at a good price point so have fun choosing!
Greece: My husband and I had a few weeks with nothing going on so we spontaneously planned a trip to Greece. It was one of the most incredible trips we have taken. We visited Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos, and simply fell in love with the views, the people, everything. I can see why it’s a popular honeymoon destination as it’s so romantic. This was the perfect place for us to go having just celebrated our 35th anniversary. I highly recommend Greece if you’re looking to take a trip. Let me know if you need any ideas for restaurants, hotels, or things to do. Trust me, you won’t be bored!
Jessica’s Natural Foods Gluten Free Granola: While this is technically a breakfast cereal, to me it’s a delicious snack. This granola is gluten free, non-gmo, and contains no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. They come in a variety of flavors, but my favorites are chocolate chip, chocolate hazelnut, and cherry & berry. I usually buy all three flavors and mix a little of each (ok a lot of each) together in a bowl!
Khaki Patch Pocket Utility Jumpsuit from The Frankie Shop: If you’ve read any of my other posts you know I love clothes—and love to shop. I often browse The Frankie Shop online so when I was in NYC I decided to stop in. It’s a very small space, but they make great use of it by stocking the coolest pieces. I tried this jumpsuit on in a small and it was too big. I know it’s supposed to be oversized but I decided to order it in an x-small and it fit perfectly! Not to make this a wasted trip I did buy the Tort Button Back Sleeveless Jumpsuit and it has heart shaped buttons going down the back-so cute!!
Yah Yah Jewelry: Handcrafted in NYC, my daughter found this jewelry line while shopping at Chelsea Market. She purchased the Superhighway Hoops, which are made of brass with a black highway repair material (similar texture to asphalt) inlay. She loved them so much we went back and she purchased another pair of earrings and a necklace with the same black highway repair material. The designer, Andrea Zeuner, has created a unique, beautiful line of jewelry using recycled materials. Check out her website or better yet, take a trip to NYC and stop in to Chelsea Market and see them in person-you won’t be bored!
