Staying home these past few weeks can be a little boring at times, but give me a good book and I’m happy as can be. Sometimes I get so engrossed in the book that hours can go by. As the weather gets warmer I can still physically distance myself by sitting outside-just me and my book!
I usually forget the titles of the books I read so I started keeping a list. Here are some of my favorites. Some I read a while ago, while others are more current. Included are also some young adult (YA) books, which I often enjoy.
The Things We Cannot Say by Kelly Rimmer: One of my most favorites.
Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owen: I heard Reese Witherspoon is making this into a movie!
The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris: I love a good Holocaust book and this one is excellent.
Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli: This is YA book, but I found it very heavy. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it and maybe I’m just removed from what kids are reading these days. I enjoyed reading it so much that I immediately chose another book to read by the same author.
The Warden’s Daughter by Jerry Spinelli: Another YA book by the same author that I loved.
One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus: I read this years ago and absolutely loved it.
The Oysterville Sewing Circle by Susan Wiggs: While this is technically a love story, it does touch on some serious topics.
It’s Always The Husband by Michele Campbell: With twists and turns, this book definitely had me intrigued.
She Was The Quiet One by Michele Campbell: Again, another author repeat. Campbell is an amazing author of plot twists,
The Girls With No Names by Serena Burdick: I love historical fiction and this story made me want to learn more about women’s treatment in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Here are some books on my TBR (to be read) list.
Bright Lights, Big City by Jay McInerney: My son just finished this and said it’s probably the best book he ever read so I anxious to read it.
Truths I Never Told You by Kelly Rimmer: This is a new release and I can’t wait to get my hands on it! I love Rimmer’s writing and and am so looking forward to reading her latest.
The Lost and Found Bookshop by Susan Wiggs: This is due out in July and I’m looking forward to reading another of her books.
I guess you can tell that I’m a faithful reader. If I read a book and really like it I usually will binge read as many by that author as I can. Do you read by author, by genre, how do you choose your books?
I hope some of these books will help to keep you occupied while we are isolating at home, and even once life returns to normal. Stay safe.
